4K network camera

by Mark Rowe

Dahua Technology, the Chinese manufacturer and supplier of video surveillance products based in Hangzhou, has introduced its first 4K network camera: the IPC-HF81200E.

Actually, 4K is not a new word, the company says, especially to the consumer electronics market, and now it has come to video surveillance. Defined and approval by International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a 4K camera should offer resolution at 3840 x 2160 with high colour fidelity in a 16:9 format using progressive scanning at 25/30 Hz. In other words, a 4K camera provides four times the resolution of 1080p, offering image detail suitable for large area monitoring, such as car parking and railway stations.

The 4K camera IPC-HF81200E complies with the above standard, it adopts 12.0-Megapixel sensor, incorporating with DSP to provide image quality. Meanwhile, the camera offers 12MP (4000 x 3000) at 15 frames per second and 4K at 30fps preview with a suggested bandwidth at 8Mbps. The camera provides triple streams options to satisfy various uses.

The IPC-HF81200E also supports functions such as defog, regions of interest (ROI) and intelligently detections, including face detections, tripwire, intrusion and scene change, which can send alerts to users when any suspicious incident or behaviour detected.

For example, at a petrol station, staff can go to the pump and serve a driver the second he has received a triggered alert; and any hidden dangers such as smoking or phone use can be observed and stopped to for the site’s safety.

Peter Pan, Product Manager at Dahua Technology, said: “Dahua is among the first manufacturers to introduce a 4K camera. Next year, we plan to render more selective possibilities to the market so that our customers can have more alternatives and find the right 4K camera to best meet their specific demands, and a high C/P ratio 4K camera will come out in this November.”
