Fearless reporting

by Msecadm4921

Youths in London can pass on information about crime from the palm of their hand with the launch of a new mobile website. The Fearless website www.fearless.org, the youth brand for the charity Crimestoppers, can be accessed via mobile phones and gives those who have details about gun and knife crime an opportunity to give information without anyone finding out who they are.

ย

The site allows users to access an anonymous secure online form which has been optimised for mobile devices. With about 4,500 gang members thought to be responsible for 22 per cent of all crime in London, young people across the capital can give information on gangs, guns and knives without revealing their identity.

Lord Ashcroft, KCMG, Founder and Chair of Crimestoppers, said: โ€œWe want to reach out to young people, who are significant users of mobile phones, and encourage them to pass on vital information about gun and knife crime.

There may be individuals who canโ€™t see a way out of gang culture; we want to offer them a lifeline through Fearless and help them feel safer in their own communitiesโ€.

Crimestoppersโ€™ Communications & Digital Manager, Heather Walker said: โ€œWe will never reveal the identity of anyone who passes on information to us. Calls and IP addresses are not recorded and you will never be asked to give a statement or go to court.โ€ย
