A five-year contract to secure premises across the UK for broadcaster ITV has gone to Pilgrims Group Limited. The two locations in Manchester, plus Leeds, Norwich, Gateshead and Belfast include the new studios and set of the long-running series, Coronation Street, besides the set and forthcoming visitor experience for the Yorkshire drama Emmerdale.
The £1.5m a year deal came after a four-way pitch against other security companies, including the incumbent. Pilgrims can see the five years go to ten years, providing it meets key performance targets.
Pilgrims calls the new contract of strategic importance, putting the company in a position to bid for work with media and others operating sites nearby.
Services will include manned guarding, event security, key-holding, alarm response, training, information and intelligence and consultancy. Pilgrims will be responsible for the control rooms, CCTV monitoring, remote management of the wider ITV estate (pictured; the London South Bank site of ITV’s This Morning show) and maintaining access and egress to and from sites.
David Freear, Pilgrims Group’s chief operating officer says: “ITV liked that we are a total security solution provider able to assist them as a global business partner and that we are able to deliver something bespoke which merges with their creative and open culture. They were impressed with our commitment to the officers on the ground, our training, innovation and the technology platforms we have developed.”
