Consultancy services

by Mark Rowe

Carlisle Support Services announces the amplification of its Security Consultancy services, covering operations, resilience, and business continuity, besides new legal and operational responsibilities. The firm points to the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also known as Martyn’s Law, which received Royal Assent in April. Although enacted, the legislation is not yet in force. The Act would mandate qualifying organisations to assess and mitigate terrorism risks in a proportionate and systematic manner and implement protective measures.

The Home Office is due to issue statutory guidance to help duty holders understand and prepare for the Act’s requirements. Early planning and preparation during this transitional period will be essential to ensure readiness and compliance once the Act comes into effect, the firm ads.

In this transitional period, businesses should still do all they can to protect themselves from a range of security threats, Carlisle says; hence its consultancy approach for businesses to adapt, respond, and recover, no matter the challenge.

“Our mission is to make security consultancy simple, and accessible,” said Nick Aldworth, Director of Counter Terrorism, Intelligence and Risk.

“We know how fragmented and reactive some organisations can become under stress. Our role is to provide the foresight, structure and critical friendship that enables organisations to stay ahead of threats and operate with confidence and unrivalled resilience.”

The company says that it aims to provide a structured model focused on operational assurance, contract evaluation, event planning support, and threat intelligence:

Operational Assurance

Aligned with the National Protective Security Authority’s (NPSA) Security Considerations Assessment (SCA), this service reviews security strategies, plans and conducts penetration testing, documentation audits, and debriefing to ensure systems are fit for purpose.

Contract Assurance

Analysis of contract delivery to identify gaps, benchmark financial models and stress test processes to ensure operational excellence at optimal costs.

Event Leadership and Planning Support

Event organisers are offered strategic advisory and operational delivery support from experienced consultants who will help identify and monitor risks as well as support the management of critical incidents should these ever occur. The aim is to support safe and compliant event operations without displacing in-house responsibility.

Threat, Risk, and Intelligence

This is aimed at helping organisations identify threats and vulnerabilities whilst assessing local and national risks such as crime, disorder, and terrorism. From the provision of intelligence through to an assessment of the risks that this might generate, Carlisle provides an end-to-end service to manage threats effectively and thoroughly.

As Nick Aldworth puts it, “At Carlisle, we’re not just responding to security concerns, we’re anticipating them. In doing so, we give our clients the clarity, confidence, and control they need to focus on what they do best.”
