The Vistaport from UK company Vistamatic is a circular security vision panel.
At Epsom general Hospital, 54 panels were installed in the refurbishment of five operating theatres. More r3ecently, the product has appeared on the BBC TV drama Holby City. Nominated for the new product awards on its launch at Interbuild 2006, the product is suitable for places where surveillance may be required before leaving or entering a room, or where physical entry or exit should be controlled: besides healthcare, applications include health clubs and leisure centres, retail, schools and offices. It offers a security addition to internal doors, as an alternative to the traditional square or rectangular vision panels. The product comprises three layers of glass sheet with opaque horizontal bands in a one-piece unit. The view is obscured when the free-moving centre sheet is lifted via a hand or elbow operated lever. It features stainless steel beading, and can be fitted with customised operating handles on both sides, on one side only, or with a key-restricted operating system, or anti-ligature knurled knobs for added safety. Pictograms such as safety signs ca be included. Vistamatic director John Nerden says: "Escalating safety concerns in public access locations have undoubtedly had an impact on building design, so we have endeavoured to combine our expertise in security provision with an aesthetic consideration of the elements that create a calming and positive environment for visitors and workers alike."
