Savings and the reduced hassle of an identity card management service have been recognised by Learning and Leisure Services (LSS) at North Lanarkshire Council, which has ordered 10,000 personalised ID cards for staff.
Payne Security aimed its complete managed service at large organisations. Instead of you handling ID card issuing process in-house, Payne will do the manufacture and fulfilment of multi-functional ID cards, using their digital printing press. Ian Murdoch, Infrastructure Development Manager, Learning and Leisure Services, at North Lanarkshire said: โWe are extremely pleased with the card management service provided by Payne Security, and are experiencing both financial and staff resource savings by choosing to utilise this option.โ Previously the Scottish councilโs internal personnel department did staff ID cards. However staff from multiple sites, spread over a wide area, had to travel to have their picture taken and wait for an ID card. It was time consuming and expensive.
When the councilโs computerised system came up for renewal, Payne Security proposed that the adoption of its card management service would offer both greater efficiencies and cost savings. Staff now only need to upload a digital photo and data through Payneโs new online ordering system to the companyโs press in Mold, where trained staff take charge of the complete card production process. Whilst being very easy to manage, this option would also save a minimum of two hours staff time for every staff badge produced, which LSS costed as saving โthousandsโ of pounds. The service from Payne Security prints the high quality, durable card using the latest digital printing technology.
As an additional benefit all cards also incorporate Braille embossing for the blind or visually impaired. This was an important consideration for the council, allowing it todemonstrate its compliance to the Disability Equality Duty, a legal regulation introduced by the government in December 2006 to ensure that disabled people are treated fairly when they interact with any form of public authority.
After production, Payne Securityโs card management service also fulfils the order as part of its card management service. The system generates a printed carrier document and securely matches it to the card, folding and inserting them into an envelope, along with up to two other relevant documents or leaflets, to be forwarded to the location specified by North Lanarkshire Council LLS within five working days.
North Lanarkshire Council LLS decided that Payne Securityโs complete card management service would be a โno fussโ way of issuing or replacing ID cards, whilst it would enable them to benefit from huge savings of both money and staff time. With these benefits in mind North Lanarkshire Council LLS has placed an initial order of 10,000 cards.
