EUROWATCH has released EventChannel, an open interface that telematics vendors can use to link their products to EUROWATCH. This improves the speed and ease with which users can transmit data into the service during a crime emergency, the firm reports. Position information is relayed into the control rooms of police forces in foreign countries and is displayed on electronic mapping in real-time. All telematics systems that provide location data in latitude and longitude format can be linked into the service. Once EventChannel is implemented the telematics application drives the data transmission process automatically. This Application Program Interface (API) is made available to telematics companies and other software providers free of charge upon request to [email protected]. Software developers are provided with the EventChannel SDK, which is a SOAP/XML webservice toolkit that makes positions and events feed automatically into EUROWATCH. A testbed is available within the EUROWATCH service to validate live interworking between the telematics application and the service. Upon successful completion of the test programme the application is Quality Assured and a certificate issued.
What they say
Peter Vyvyan-Robinson, Director of EUROWATCH said: ?EventChannel is an exciting extension to EUROWATCH and its ability to protect drivers and cargo in Europe. Enabling police to pinpoint location in real-time means we are progressively making things easier for users and more difficult for criminals.? Visit www.eurowatchcentral.com
