STM has signed an agreement with Northern Rail to provide revenue protection, customer service and security staff from April 1, 2014. Northern Rail runs trains across the north of England, serving a population of nearly 15m and their trains call at over 500 stations (about a fifth of all UK railway stations), of which they manage 462.
STM is a UK-wide security company and supplier of manned security and customer service staff. STM operates in a variety of industries. STM has a dedicated manned guarding division, providing licensed personnel around the UK.
STM tendered for three distinct service elements across the Northern estate including revenue protection and customer services, security services and a specialist security team operating under the Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme (RSAS) which is overseen by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). STM has held RSAS accreditation since 2009 and has experience in service delivery within the rail industry and in working with British Transport Police.
The agreement with Northern Rail will run for 23 months until February 2016 running in line with their interim franchise agreement. The security contractor said it looks forward to a mutually rewarding and beneficial working partnership in all aspects of service delivery helping Northern Rail.
