AI remote-head camera

by Mark Rowe

New from Hanwha Vision is a AI remote-head camera, featuring a single-body design with support for up to four channels.

As a multi-sensor product, it delivers intelligence and monitoring in a compact and discreet form, says the manufacturer. The product is for use where a discreet presence is needed, or for the monitoring of more confined spaces, such as at entrances, and retail counters. The camera, model PNM-C20000QB, can be installed with a range of accessories from the company, such as 2MP and 5MP (megapixel) lens modules. AI object and attribute detection, alongside colour detection (upper/lower clothing and vehicle), are supported on all four channels. The solution also provides four audio inputs and one output channel for synchronised audio-video monitoring. An HDMI port enables local monitoring of the video signal from all four channels without the need for further computing power. The integration of shock detection via gyro sensors can add to situational awareness by alerting the operator to impacts or tampering.

AI analytics

AI-powered analytics enable real-time detection of people, faces, vehicles and licence plates. AI algorithms can discern these objects from surrounding irrelevant motion, meaning motion detection alarms are only triggered when specific objects are moving in a scene. Event-based alerts can also be triggered for virtual-line crossing, area intrusion, loitering, and directional movement. The camera features BestShot, a function that captures and transmits the most relevant images of classified objects. These images, cropped around the detected objects by AI, can speed searches. Colour detection of clothing and vehicles also can aid forensic search. The developers point to business intelligence, such as people and vehicle counting, that can add value beyond security to streamline operations, inform marketing and sales, and aid with site layout. As for cybersecurity, the product features user authentication and secure communication, access control and audit. An embedded secure element meets FIPS 140-3 Level 3 and CC EAL6+ standards. A detachable installation plate can aid mounting at installation, and for adjustments.
