New from Hanwha Vision is the Dual-Lens Barcode Reader Camera. Models are the TNS-9040IBC, TNS-9050IBC and TNS-9060IBC.
The products combine barcode recognition and video capture in one device. With the Vision Logistics Tracking Software (VLTS), barcodes and video are provided in real-time for use in inventory management, traceability and incident investigation. As the product firm says, this can reduce shipping errors, returns, and ultimately boosting customer satisfaction.
The Barcode Reader Camera uses barcode recognition, for multiple parcels in one frame, and tracking. AI-powered barcode label detection on the monochrome channel, including for high-speed conveyors, enables operators to find labels. The solution also includes WiseBCR, a pre-installed barcode application that supports real-time barcode information and history.
The sensors for barcode recognition and video monitoring offer 4K resolution for clear imagery. The 16, 25 or 35mm lens provides a wide field of view that suits a variety of logistics sites, the product firm says. In addition, the global shutter function, available on both channels, captures distortion-free images of high-speed moving objects such as parcels on conveyor belts.
As a single device, the unit reduces installation and maintenance costs. In contrast, conventional systems require barcode readers and video surveillance cameras to be installed as separate systems, the company adds. As a result, the camera can aid operator efficiency and incident investigation as managers can check location, time and footage details of parcels and events in a single system instead of using separate systems. Furthermore, the device comes with protection against dust, shock and vibration thanks to IP66/67 and IK10 ratings and M12 connectors.
Logistics solution
The camera forms the foundation of a logistics solution, Hanwha Vision add, with their software and hardware. It integrates with Hanwha Vision’s Vision Logistics Tracking Software (VLTS), a platform that provides overview of operations. Packing video management, part of VLTS, integrates third-party handheld scanners making it a tool for fulfilment centres.
