Balfour Beatty Workplace has been appointed to provide facilities management services for a range of EDF Energy sites in the UK.

The contract, worth more than £9m a year, is for a minimum of five years and will see Balfour Beatty Workplace provide site facilities management, maintenance, cleaning, security and other support services.  The estate comprises more than 30 sites across the UK including Barnwood near Gloucester, Crawley, East Kilbride near Glasgow, Exeter, Hove, London, Plymouth and Sunderland.

Andy Hobart, MD of Balfour Beatty Workplace, said: “I am delighted to announce that Balfour Beatty Workplace have been appointed to manage this important contract to EDF Energy. It builds on the exceptional partnership we have developed over the past decade where we currently deliver essential support services across their fleet of UK nuclear power stations.

“We are really looking forward to the successful transfer of around 50 people from EDF Energy and some 250 people from existing suppliers into our organisation, and the transformation into a new and exciting service delivery model to support EDF Energy.”

Khalad Hussain, EDF Energy’s Property Services Director, said: “The appointment of Balfour Beatty Workplace follows a rigorous tender process over the last six months. The partnership with BBW will mean a more effective and consistent service that prioritises quality of service, health and safety, sustainability, value for money and the development of employees, supporting our own company ambitions.  We continue to work with employees, trade unions and other contract partners as we move towards the new arrangements, which are due to start at the end of April.”
