Magenta Security Services is 30

by Mark Rowe

The guarding company Magenta Security Services is hailing its 30th anniversary. As for sustainable business practices, the guard firm was the first in the sector to achieve ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management.

Having achieved carbon-neutral status in 2021, the company passed its own targets by becoming fully carbon-zero in 2022, without relying on offsetting. Its sustainability initiatives include: its vehicle fleet going to electric, powered by on-site solar charging stations; reducing energy consumption by 75 per cent through investments in energy-efficient lighting and infrastructure; going paperless, saving over 150 trees annually through digital systems; and joining the Carbon Database Initiative (CaDI) to drive transparency in carbon reporting.

The firm has gained multiple sustainability accolades, including the Security or Fire Sustainability Champion award at the Security Excellence Awards for two consecutive years.

The company works across various sectors. Its services include manned guarding, mobile patrols, CCTV monitoring, key holding and alarm response, event security and cyber security training. Besides security, the firm seeks to give back to the community. The company has supported the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, donating all profits from its contract to support patient care. The company sponsors 35 children worldwide, providing education and welfare for twelve years (from the age of four to sixteen) to those in need.

As an advocate for ethical business practices, Magenta seeks to challenge rogue traders and elevate standards in the security industry. Abbey Petkar, Managing Director of Magenta, pictured, was among the speakers at the IFPO UK conference in Coventry last summer. He said: “For 30 years, Magenta has stood for quality, integrity, and sustainability. We have not only provided outstanding security services but have also led the way in environmental responsibility and ethical business practices. As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to pushing boundaries, setting new standards, and making a lasting impactโ€”both in our industry and beyond.โ€
