Imberbus day

by Mark Rowe

Land Sheriffs provided security for the annual Imberbus event for a fifth year. The annual event gives public access to the uninhabited Wiltshire village of Imber. Evacuated for the British Army to do further exercises across Salisbury Plain, it’s now a Ministry of Defence military training ground. Vintage London buses transport visitors through the abandoned village, providing glimpses into its history while raising money for charity. Public access is limited to a few days a year.

On Saturday, August 16, over 30 Routemaster buses drove thousands of visitors through the village. The bus fares from the event raised funds for several charities, including towards keeping Imberโ€™s St Giles Church open.

James Coyle, Managing Director of Land Sheriffs, said: โ€œSupporting the Imberbus event is one of our annual highlights! Each year, we provide a team of highly-trained professionals to maintain the security of the village, whilst also making sure organisers, volunteers and event attendees feel welcome and safe.”

Land Sheriffs provided access control at the village gates, monitoring the vehicles and people that entered. This ensured the safe and secure movement of attendees and the smooth running of the event for organisers.

James said: โ€œWeโ€™re pleased to have helped make Imberbus a safe and successful experience for all. Weโ€™re especially proud to have received such positive feedback, with the organisers crediting our team for being โ€˜brilliantโ€™ and โ€˜faultlessโ€™ and giving us a 10/10 rating!โ€
