Experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer

Location: San Diego, CA
Salary: $65,000 – $115,000 + Benefits

Company Overview

Our client is a well-established fire protection contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire sprinkler systems across commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to join their expanding design team.

Role Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Fire Sprinkler Designer with strong REVIT and CAD experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate fire sprinkler system designs, layouts, and technical drawings while working closely with engineering, project management, and installation teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and compliantly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design fire sprinkler systems using REVIT and CAD software.
  • Produce detailed layouts, installation drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Review project specifications, blueprints, and construction drawings.
  • Perform calculations and create accurate system designs in accordance with NFPA standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project, and field teams throughout the design process.
  • Submit designs for approval and assist with permitting requirements.
  • Revise and update drawings as project requirements change.
  • Support project delivery by ensuring designs are accurate, practical, and installation-ready.

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience designing fire sprinkler systems.
  • Proficiency with REVIT and CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 13 and related fire protection codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience producing detailed sprinkler layouts and installation drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Desirable Requirements

  • NICET certification (or working towards it).
  • Experience conducting site surveys and project coordination.
  • Technical qualification in engineering, drafting, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic calculations and fire sprinkler system design best practices.
