Development follows recognition; this is why the Association of Security Consultants (ASC) has hosted its prestigious awards ceremonies.
This year’s awards are no different and will see winners announced in three categories. The first of the two longstanding awards is the Imbert Award. This prize embodies the Association’s commitment to promoting risk and security management in the UK. It’s named after Lord Peter Imbert of New Romney, former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, a Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, and a long-time appreciated member of the Professional Security editorial board. The award serves to mark his legacy in the fields of public safety and service.
Judges
A panel of experienced industry leaders review and judge the submitted dissertations for their originality, depth of research, and quality of arguments. This year’s Imbert Award’s judges were: Michael McDonald, ASC director and CEO of 6E Consulting Limited; Nigel Cook, ASC director and director of Nigel Cook Consulting Ltd; Rick Mounfield, ASC director and director at Optimal Risk Group; and Dennis Roe, ASC Awards Manager, security consultant at IEPA and PhD researcher. Having reviewed the (as always) impressive submissions received, the judges have shortlisted three. The ASC is proud to announce their names and congratulate them for their contribution to the progression of the sector:

Consultancy work
The second of the two long-standing prizes is the Mike Cahalane Award. Each year, the ASC proudly presents this to honour an exceptional independent security consultant who has demonstrated excellence in their consultancy work. The award not only acknowledges the consultant’s professional achievements but also highlights the vital role that individual has played in shaping the security landscape. Once again, this award is evaluated by prominent thought leaders in the field. The judges for the 2024 Mike Cahalane Award are: Simon Crane – ASC director and director of consulting at AHNA Consulting Group; Lee Doddridge, ASC director and director at Covenant; Clarke Jarrett, guest judge and director of special projects AHNA Group and director of x26consulting.
The award underlines the profound impact that independent security consultants have on the improvement of industry standards and the fostering of a culture of security awareness and resilience. With the aim of inspiring continued excellence and innovation within the field and celebrating those who lead the way in advancing the profession, the ASC is pleased to announce the finalists are:
