Spring dance raises charity cash

by Mark Rowe

Peter French, pictured, as a past master of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals (WCoSP), writes after the Worshipful Company’s 2025 spring dance raised more than £43,000 for charities. He writes:

We have already booked for Saturday, March 7, 2026, and we would appreciate your feedback on your evening – what could we do better, and how we can raise even more money for our charities next year. We also need your suggestions for our next tribute act. We will need help next year and will set aside ten discounted tickets let us know if you could help us raise even more money.

Charity night

Over 220 people attended the 23rd Spring Dance on March 1, a Worshipful Company of Security Professionals fundraising event and the biggest in the UK security sector, on behalf of the Security Benevolent Fund and the Charitable Trust, raising over £43,000 led by the Past Master Peter French and Roy Cooper, MD of Professional Security Magazine.

Raising money for people who struggle with mental health conditions and need urgent intervention has never been more important. We see that intervention by the charities we support is having an impact, daily. The annual Spring Dance is committed to deliver a social event that raises awareness, delivers focused help and advice.

After a drinks reception, the crowd were entertained during dinner with the soulful vibes of Irie J, master of ceremonies. The online auction was presented on-screen and encouraged active bidding, right up to the deadline. One of the evenings appeals is to support the work of the Hackney Carriage Drivers ‘Magical Taxi Tour‘, when a convoy of licensed taxis take over 200 children, suffering from a range of chronic debilitating illnesses and life-limiting conditions, on a three-day trip of a lifetime to Disney Paris. This tour has bought moments of great joy and happiness to sick children. They have supported 5,000 such children in that time. One of the mums, Jacqui Stokoe shared the story of Bella her daughter who was diagnosed with leukaemia at a young age. The moving account of their experience highlighted the value of the appeal that on the night raised enough money for six taxis in the coming year.
