New HQ for Banham

by Mark Rowe

The Banham Group, the London-based security installer, reports that planning permission has been granted for their new headquarters in Earlsfield, by Wandsworth council.

The multi-million pound development designed by architects, Allies and Morrison, will be more than twice the size of their current head offices in Vauxhall and will bring over 300 jobs to the local area. The development is due to be completed in early 2015. Ten companies now under the Banham Group umbrella. This year alone Banham’s workforce has increased by 14% throughout the company’s various divisions, as well as through implementing a new apprenticeship scheme, which will employ up to 20 local youth apprentices.

Having opened their first lock shop in 1926, Banhams now work around the south east of England. The new headquarters will not only provide a centre for servicing Banham’s customers, and will house a research and demonstration centre to allow continued in-house development of products and features. Banham offers patented locks with protected key registration. Banham’s 24-hour alarm receiving centre will be housed onsite and will be quadrupling in size to monitor customer alarms and CCTV. The Banham Charitable Foundation will also be based here.

What they say

Charles Hallatt, Executive Chairman at Banham said: “Banham’s move to the new headquarters will be a significant milestone for the company and a start of a new era. The substantial increase in floor space to 50,000 square feet will allow the business to fully expand and truly demonstrate how the Group is still the leading security provider. We are proud of our heritage as well as our reputation of being the best in the industry. Therefore it was important in working closely with Allies and Morrison Urban Practitioners to ensure our new headquarters was designed to reflect this as well as logistically meeting our many business requirements. There were several challenges along the way such as ensuring the design will meet the very exacting and highest standards of the National Security Inspectorate for our 24-hour monitoring centre. We see our headquarters as setting a new benchmark for regeneration of the area and it will be built to the highest specification.”
