Salisbury forum

by Mark Rowe

The first annual Salisbury Security Forum is running on Thursday evening, November 28 at The Guildhall, pictured. Between 4pm and 6pm you can hear speakers from Wiltshire Police, the local guarding company Venture Security and the fire and security installer EvoTec.

Superintendent Douglas Downing is responsible for retail crime prevention in Salisbury. At the forum, he will layout the Wiltshire Police Policing Strategy for the next two years for the Salisbury area before a 20 minute question and answer (Q&A) session. Other speakers include from ACS Pacesetters guard firm Venture Security, the founder and Managing Director, Paul Howe, whose company does work around the county. For example it recently announced work for Wiltshire County Council; and on-street patrols in Trowbridge, besides Salisbury; funded by Wiltshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner through the national Home Office Safer Streets Fund.

Also speaking is Amesbury based electronic security company EVOTEC’s Managing Director, Andy Tamkus. At demonstration tables guests will be able to get hands-on with the latest security technology from the speakers and supporting companies; whether the latest bullet-proof vests, knife arches, under-vehicle search mirror, CCTV cameras and alarms.

Salisbury Chamber of Commerce Director, Byron Logue, said: “The Salisbury Security Forum will bring together local businesses, policing and private security to raise awareness of critical issues facing enterprise in 2024. With crime on the rise and Martyn’s Law around the corner, it is more important that ever that businesses are engaged with policing and security provision than ever.”
