Trojan Security announces its partnership with Stamp Out Spiking, the charity founded by Dawn Dines, seeking to raise awareness and combat drink spiking. The firm says this partnership underscores its commitment to creating safe environments for all, particularly in venues.
Drink spiking refers to the act of adding alcohol, drugs, or other substances to someone’s drink without their knowledge or consent. This malicious act can have devastating consequences, from incapacitation and vulnerability to health complications or even death. Women are disproportionately targeted, with incidents often occurring in social settings such as bars, clubs, and events. The fear of spiking not only jeopardises physical safety but also erodes trust and enjoyment in public spaces.
The repercussions are not just physical but psychological, leaving lasting trauma and a sense of fear. This reality underscores the urgent need for proactive measures and community collaboration to create spaces where everyone feels safe and respected, adds Trojan which provides services at clubs, premier event venues, and stadiums across the UK. However, the rise of drink spiking has introduced a serious challenge that undermines the sense of safety these spaces are meant to provide, the firm adds. Hence the partnering.
Ivan Mariacher, Managing Director at Trojan Security, says: “Everyone deserves to enjoy a night out without the constant fear of being harmed. It’s heartbreaking that spiking has become so prevalent that people now feel the need to take precautions that should never have been necessary in the first place. By partnering with Stamp Out Spiking, we are taking a stand to create safer spaces and ensure people can focus on having a good time out, not worrying about their safety.”
Together, the two aim to:
● Raise Awareness: Educate the public and venues about the risks of drink spiking and how to prevent it.
● Implement Proactive Measures: Develop and promote best practices for venue security teams to detect and respond to spiking incidents.
● Support Advocacy Efforts: Contribute to initiatives that highlight the importance of safety in social spaces.
