NAHS conference and awards

by Mark Rowe

The National Association for Healthcare Security (NAHS) is returning to the University of Birmingham for its Annual Conference and Awards, on November 26 and 27.

The conference, chaired by the criminologist Prof Martin Gill of Perpetuity Research, will feature NHS England’s Core Standards for Healthcare Security, the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill – more popularly known as Martyn’s Law – and updates on violence prevention; the ‘right care, right person’ model, first introduced by Humberside Police and now national, whereby police will not attend a person in mental health crisis unless a crime is occurring or someone is otherwise at risk of harm; and cyber threats.

Among those giving official updates will be the Security Industry Authority; and on terror and related threats, the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA). Training has long been a focus for the association; hence speakers include Claire Humble of consultancy Nuology, who recently became chair of the security industry umbrella body the Security Commonwealth; and on physical intervention, Paul Keedwell, Certification Director of BILD.

Attendees will enjoy two days of sessions, networking, and an exhibition showing the latest in healthcare security. A Black-Tie Gala Dinner will top proceedings at The Fry Suite, to mark the winners of the annual healthcare security awards. NAHS reports that this year has seen a record number of nominations; judges are deliberating on the finalists. Tickets include access to all conference sessions, refreshments, networking events, and the gala dinner. Pictured are some of the 2023 winners; the installation company Marlowe Security, in the innovation category.

A limited-time offer provides a 50pc discount using promo code “nahs50” until November 8. For more details and to book your tickets, visit the official website. Book your tickets now via Eventbrite: https://lnkd.in/e7kF-EE8

If you would like to buy multiple tickets to attend the conference and/or gala dinner, an invoice can be raised; email [email protected].
