The services contractor Carlisle Support Services has appointed Allan Gregory as their new Director of Transport Security and Policing. Allan, pictured, recently retired as an Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) for British Transport Police (BTP).
He was 32 years in BTP, and had been responsible for operational performance across England, Scotland, and Wales. He also oversaw volume crime investigation, community and stakeholder engagement, use of force, stop search, custody operations, the Special Constabulary, and neighbourhood policing. In his most recent role, Allan was the senior responsible owner of the forceโs ‘integrated security and policing’ project.
As Assistant Chief Constable, Allan fulfilled on-call responsibilities, leading him to be the Silver Commander (tactical level, below gold-strategic) on the evening of the Manchester Arena terror attack, in May 2017. He was among the witnesses at the Manchester Arena Inquiry. Similarly, Allan was a qualified Gold (Strategic) Public Order Commander and a Multi-Agency Gold (Strategic) Incident Commander. Carlisle points to his experience in collaborative partnerships with the UK rail industry, and the management of critical incidents.
At Carlisle, Allan will work closely with the companyโs Director of Rail Strategy and Senior Security and Policing Advisor to deliver a National Transport Security and Policing Solution. As a result, he will serve as the primary liaison with key stakeholders such as the Department for Transport, Home Office, Security Industry Authority, and more.
Allan said: โI am delighted to be joining the Carlisle Support Services family. I am eager to learn, and it will be really interesting to see the UKโs railway network from a different perspective. I want to draw on my experience in policing in order to support Carlisleโs focus on the sector. I look forward to meeting the operational teams, our customers, and other key partners.โ
And Carlisle Chief Executive Officer Paul Evans said: โWe are really excited to welcome Allan within the Carlisle family. His wealth of expertise will bring invaluable benefits to our clients and further solidify our position as a market leader of people-based support services within the UK rail and transport networks.โ
