Guard firm’s feedback for teens

by Mark Rowe

As part of a ‘mock interview day’ for year 11 teenage students at Passmores Academy in Harlow, where the ACS Pacesetters guarding firm Land Sheriffs is based, the guard contractor’s Managing Director, James Coyle, and HR Advisor, Karen Gladish, reviewed CVs and gave feedback.

MD James Coyle said: “It was a really rewarding day, for us and hopefully for the students too. Everyone was engaged and open to feedback, and it’s clear to see the next generation are thinking seriously about their next steps after school.” Land Sheriffs took questions on apprenticeships, further education routes and general interview techniques.

A pupil wrote to Land Sheriffs afterwards, thanking them. James added: “It’s important that young people are given the opportunity to understand what the workplace is like. Sessions like this help bridge that gap between education and employment.”  Passmores Academy has invited Land Sheriffs to return, to a year 7 and year 8 careers day. Passmores is one of ten schools the specialist railways guarding firm partners with, through the Rail Safe FriendlyPlus scheme, featured in the May edition of Professional Security Magazine.
