Retail crime conference

by Mark Rowe

Stirling-based Retailers Against Crime (RAC) and Crimestoppers Scotland are hosting a joint conference at Caledonian University in Glasgow on Thursday, September 5, from 10am to 3pm.

Crimestoppers are a charity dedicated to fighting crime and are an anonymous route for people to pass on information about crime. Crimestoppers guarantees anonymity, which means that no-one can ever find out who passed on the information. Over 8,000 criminals were arrested and charged last year as a result of calls to Crimestoppers.

RAC circulate information to members and police forces throughout the UK. RAC seek to highlight threats associated with travelling teams and individuals who impact on the profitability of businesses, resulting in offenders being identified and in many cases arrested.

The event will include sessions on Crimestoppers, methods used by criminals, conflict management, internal fraud, identity theft, nationwide intelligence, banknote features and plastic card crime. The event will also highlight partnership working which is key to the success of RAC and Crimestoppers.
