AI camera range

by Mark Rowe

New from the video surveillance product manufacturer IDIS is an Edge AI Plus Camera range. The South Korean firm says that the range gives users options to upgrade their video systems with artificial intelligence, including new automated detection functions.

The cameras include tools for real-time surveillance operations and footage search-and-playback. It comprises outdoor and vandal-proof 8MP domes (DC-D6831WRA) and bullets (DC-T6831WRA), with a PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) model scheduled for launch this summer. The range features IDIS’s upgraded analytics engine, IDLA Pro. With on-the-edge analytics and five new functions, crowd detection, abandoned and removed object detection, fall detection, and violence detection, the new range is designed for security responses in varied settings, the makers say.

The cameras offer threat detection with image capture even in varied and challenging lighting, the company says, including bright sunlight and night, thanks to infra-red lighting, wide dynamic range (WDR), and a larger sensor (1/1.8-inch). The products also feature the firm’s new A-Cut function, for attribute searching, with automatic image cropping, intuitive metadata search options, and a user interface. Advanced attribute recognition options include the gender and age of subjects, and whether they are wearing glasses, hats, or masks, or carrying accessories such as bags. It also distinguishes between vehicle types (such as sedans, trucks, buses, motorcycles, etc) and colours.

The camera analytics is powered by the in-house-developed IDIS Deep Learning Engine. The products come with IDIS’ DirectIP technology including: plug-and-play set-up and one-click configuration for central monitoring; no hidden extra costs or charges per channel; multi-layered cybersecurity protection using IDIS’s own patented protocols covering mutual authentication of devices, multi-factor authentication (MFA), video data capture, storage, and transmission.

Jun-Jyung Sung, Head of Product Planning Team at IDIS, pictured, said: “Our powerful new Edge AI Plus Camera range delivers all the advantages of an intuitive, easy-to-use interface with functions designed for convenient and more efficient and proactive surveillance operations. Crucially, it strengthens security and mitigates safety risk with affordable system upgrade options, allowing analytics tools to be deployed exactly where they are needed most, to protect priority locations 24/7 with enhanced domain awareness.”
