Recording system

by Mark Rowe

New from the German video surveillance product manufacturer Dallmeier is the DMS 2400 (MK4) appliance. It combines the software SeMSy Recording Server with server hardware. The appliance is the makers say suited for video security systems in retail, petrol stations or private properties that require recording within a small footprint.

Thanks to matched components, the system achieves a high storage speed, according to the manufacturer, allowing the recording of up to 40 high-resolution video streams at a frame rate of 30 frames per second (fps). Two lockable 3.5-inch hard disk bays at the rear provide a storage capacity of up to 48 terabytes. The compartmentalized Linux operating system and the SeMSy Recording Server application are installed on a separate flash module.

Intelligent functions

The pre-installed SeMSy Recording Server software is designed as an open platform. With the according licences, third-party cameras can be recorded with motion detection and configured via the ONVIF protocol. The appliance come with a database for the analysis results of Dallmeier cameras and Panomera systems with EdgeAnalytics. The received events, objects and classes are stored with the relevant metadata almost in real-time and can be analysed using the SmartFinder function in SeMSy Compact.

Panomera recording

As for recording Panomera cameras, Christian Linthaler, Chief Sales Officer at Dallmeier, says: โ€œOnly one licensed recording channel is required for the first sensor of a Panomera multi-focal sensor system. All additional sensors only require free channels that do not need to be licensed. This reduces licensing costs and enables particularly economical system planning.”

Mobile access

Like all Dallmeier recorders, the DMS 2400 (MK4) supports mobile access via the SeMSy Mobile Client. This allows security personnel to access live images and recordings from various locations. AI-based object classification pre-selects relevant events and presents them. Operation is intuitive via sliders or the ‘trackwheel’ with haptic feedback. The SeMSy Mobile Client is available for smartphones and tablets.
