Octavian audit

by Mark Rowe

A Nottingham-based security guarding company has again been certified as a safe business to work for in the UK by the accreditation scheme Safecontractor.

Octavian Security is audited annually by the organisation on its health and safety standards. Commercial director Tony Mellor said: “Octavian Security’s Safecontractor accreditation is a reflection on how highly we prioritise the safety of our staff. As a leading security provider, we feel that we have a responsibility to lead by example on matters such as this, so we are very happy that we have upheld our high standards.”

Under the Safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process that examines health and safety procedures and their record of safe practice. Those companies meeting the standard are included on a database, accessible to registered via the organisation’s website.

“More businesses need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Octavian security has done,” said Safecontractor’s technical director John Kinge. “The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”
