Essence Security is in partnership with Securitas Alert GmbH, the German security provider, to offer Essence’s stand-alone MyShield monitored security device in Germany under the name ShieldPro. MyShield is a portable, battery-powered security system designed for homes and small businesses, that works independently of a power supply or local connectivity. Essence Security will be exhibiting the MyShield range of smoke intervention products at The Security Event from Tuesday to Thursday, April 8 to 10 at the NEC Birmingham.
Identifying a need among small and medium enterprises for a stand-alone security system, Securitas selected Essence Security’s smoke generating security product to distribute. Under the partnership, businesses will have access to MyShield and can opt to add to the system a smoke deployment feature to intervene remotely at the detection of a crime. Securitas is looking to add to its subscriber base in the residential and SME sector, adding connections to their national alarm receiving centre.

Unlike other products on the market that require a connection to a power source and often local networks, MyShield’s battery-powered system connects to the cloud via cellular IoT connectivity. That cuts out the need for traditional security control panels and offers portability, the firms say. The system features a high-definition camera for video verification, and includes a motion detector, voice announcements, and optional remote smoke deployment. The device can be moved for properties to have 24/7 security on demand. MyShield remains active during power outages and local network failures, offering continuous coverage.

The firms add that MyShield’s smoke deployment feature brings a new dimension to security with intervention capabilities, previously unavailable to SMEs in Germany. The harmless, yet disorienting smoke fills a room in 30 seconds, to force intruders off the premises before they can cause harm to people or property. Acting as a ‘first responder,’ MyShield intervenes at the detection of a crime, offering small and medium enterprises with an additional layer of defence.
