IP horn speaker

by Mark Rowe

The IP-A1SC15 is the latest model of IP horn by TOA. Based on open standards network it has been designed to plug into standard IP networks and can be integrated with Video Management Systems (VMS) or SIP-based communication systems using standard VMS or SIP protocol.

This IP horn speaker is a stand-alone PA (public address) with speaker, built-in 15W power amplifier and integrated audio source for pre-recorded and live announcements. These can be manually or automatically triggered by VoIP (Voice over IP)/SIP phone or IP camera systems, image sending or motion detection video systems.

The IP-A1SC15 has harmonised output levels for each audio source with the ability for volume level adjustment ensuring that voice announcements are clear and have high intelligibility. It has a maximum sound pressure level of 124dB at 15W with PoE+ (Power over Ethernet).

Designed to be robust for use indoors and outdoors it can operate at temperatures from minus 30 degrees C to 55 degreesC and has a dust/water protection rating of IP66. The product comes with an IP setting tool which allows you to assign IP addresses to all IP horn speakers at the same time. By setting the network ID and host ID on the first speaker set up will automatically assign IP addresses for the remaining devices in your system.

Ian Bridgewater, Director & Technical Sales Manager of TOA says: “The use of IP in PA systems is not only effective in terms of site management but also cost effective too. IP allows large installations that have many zoned areas to create an announcement system that is safe and robust while being managed and monitored by a central control room. If you imagine large applications such as airports and train terminals that have many individual areas to monitor, they will need systems that not only deliver evacuation information but have the ability to give directional information, general safety information and public announcements. We are developing these systems to keep people safe so being able to use IP in this way gives greater control and flexibility in design and installation whilst ensuring they comply to end user specifications.”
