Trespass beads

by Mark Rowe

A new SelectaDNA product are Trespass Beads, to deter criminals from illegally entering sites.

As they’re discreet, the beads can be covertly deployed and camouflaged against terrains and come in a range of colours, for use outdoors or indoors; at homes, businesses, parks or farmland. They’re designed to break on impact through being stepped on or driven on, and so mark the shoe sole or car tyre with a UV-based DNA solution that can be analysed later, to link the criminal with the crime scene, whether they have illegally entered restricted zones or tampered with property. The green beads are for use in grass (pictured), yellow beads for sandy soil, black for asphalt, and a clear bead for multiple purposes.

As with product company Selectamark’s related products, that show up under ultraviolet light, outdoor warning signs are also offered, with a reflective coating to attract attention when a light is directed at it in the dark. The aim of the signage is to deter intruders from trespassing in the first place. The range of marking products on offer includes grease, gel, a defence spray (against personal attack); and SelectaDNA Trace, an aerosol for marking of metals such as railway track, equipment used outdoors, drain covers and church lead roofs. Other asset marking applications include items of domestic property such as laptops; angling rods; and caravans and plant.
