Drugs, Addiction and the Law (7th edition, 2002). Editor Leonard Jason-Lloyd.

This volume has a strong hard back cover and ring binder to insert any updates supplied by the publishers. The author has become well known in the security industry, lecturing on criminal justice legislation, having been in management in the private security sector. Today, as the publication shows, the law relating to the possession of controlled drugs is far from simple. The author displays considerable knowledge of this subject and interestingly and clearly interprets the legislation. Some of the most recent stated cases are discussed. The author looks at the characteristics of the most commonly abused drugs; the powers of the police and ordinary citizens regarding drug offences; and control over the supplier of controlled drugs. Also examined are drug smuggling and trafficking and various other offences Statutes and delegated legislation are listed, making it essential reading – and easy to follow – for security and police officers and any staff such as those in the criminal justice system and medical nursing staff. (See article on healthcare industry drug misuse: November 2001 issue, page 52.) Tables of stated cases are supplied together with a most useful 28-page index.
