The Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO) has announced its Annual Awards 2025 shortlist. Winners will be named on Wednesday, April 9, at the AUCSO Gala Dinner and Awards Evening at The Slate at the University of Warwick.
That ceremony falls during the 2025 AUCSO Annual Conference and AGM running from Monday, April 7 at the University of Warwick and hosted by Mark Kennell, Head of Community Safety & Security at Warwick. This year’s conference theme is ‘Safe Spaces’. Some 200 delegates are expected to attend from higher education institutions in the UK and Ireland, Australia, USA, and Qatar as well as a contingent from the Continent. The awards shortlist is:
Security Officer of the Year:
Peter Goddard, Exeter
Leroy Williamson, and Leroy Gayle, Salford
Raju Dhakal, Reading
Thomas Meredith, Staffordshire
Mohammed Nawaz, Birmingham
Awarded to the Security Officer who has consistently performed to a high degree of excellence and professionalism going above and beyond the usual expectations of their job role.
Security Team of the Year:
Delta Team, and Alpha Team, Coventry
Security Team, Oxford Brookes
Campus Support, Edge Hill
Northumbria University Security, Northumbria
Security & Safety, Teesside
Security Services, Reading
Campus Safety & Security Team, Staffordshire
Awarded to the Security Team whose teamwork or involvement in an incident has required them to perform outside the requirements of their job role, displaying courage and determination in dealing with incidents and supporting the Campus community.
Security Manager of the Year:
Lorna Wallington, York
Russell Wardale, Edinburgh Napier
Ahmed Mohamed, Oxford Brookes
Dave Davis, Hurst College
Barry Palmer, SOAS
Awarded to the Security Manager who has introduced innovations which have added value to their institution, taken part in the wider security community, led to positive changes in reducing security risks and has consistently demonstrated leadership across the Security Team.
