The British Security Industry Association has welcomed this week’s guilty verdicts for five men convicted of kidnap, robbery and firearms charges for their part in the Securitas robbery in Kent during 2006.
BSIA Chief Executive, David Dickinson, says: "This week saw the guilty men sentenced to 140 years imprisonment in total. These sentences are a reflection of the very serious nature of this crime and send a clear message to the criminal that such crimes cannot and will not be tolerated."
"I support the view put forward by Kent Police that the Securitas robbery was far from a victimless crime. In fact it caused significant trauma for the victims involved and their families. Our thoughts remain with those involved and we hope that this week’s verdicts and the sentences imposed upon those found guilty will help them as they continue to come to terms with their ordeal."
"As an industry, we have learnt from the Securitas robbery and BSIA members continue to invest extensively in security measures, adding and developing new technologies to protect both staff and assets."
