Dont Stand 4 Fraud

by msecadm4921

The Don’t Stand 4 Fraud campaign is urging retailers to increase their vigilance and turn up the heat on card criminals.

Card Watch is the fraud prevention arm of APACS – the Association for Payment Clearing Services. Its fraud prevention initiative for 2002 is called Don’t Stand 4 Fraud and is urging retailers to increase their vigilance and turn up the heat on card criminals. In the next few years a highly secure system using ‘smart’ chip cards alongside PINs (personal identification numbers) will come into full effect. By the time it is fully implemented in 2005, the system will prevent most types of card fraud happening within the UK. In the meantime, APACS say, retail staff must be extra vigilant because criminals will be working even harder to rip people off. The Don’t Stand 4 Fraud initiative begins in October and runs until Christmas. You can play your part by: distributing free Don’t Stand 4 Fraud packs to your staff – you can order anything from one to 5,000 packs; telling your staff that we want them to increase their vigilance; and visiting www.cardwatch.org.uk
