Parking Awards

by Msecadm4921

Strathclyde Passenger Transport’s three Subway Park and Ride facilities can now all boast coveted Park Mark Safer Parking accreditation after being vetted by Strathclyde Police.

Inspections carried out at Kelvinbridge and Bridge Street Stations showed they both have ample measures in place to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.

By receiving the accolade, they join SPT’s 800 space multi-storey car park at Shields Road Subway station in being recognised for providing a safe environment for the public and their vehicles.

SPT Chairman Jonathan Findlay said: "It’s vital that we provide a safe environment for car park users so they can feel comfortable leaving and picking up their cars at all times. We know this is especially important to women drivers.

"It’s great to have Park Mark awards at all our Subway Park and Ride facilities because it shows that all our hard work in creating a safe environment for our customers has been worth it. We’ll be displaying the Park Mark award logo with pride at all our car park entrances."

At a presentation ceremony, Chief Superintendent David Stewart, Head of Community Safety at Strathclyde Police, said: "Keeping people safe is the core function of the police service. Thanks to organisations like SPT being proactive in taking steps to reduce crime, police officers are able to concentrate their efforts elsewhere."
