A parking system commissioned at the Village Hotel, Headingley, Leeds aims to keep spaces for disabled drivers.
The œ4,000 system is designed to target drivers that use parking spaces reserved for less able-bodied motorists. Known as Space Hogg, the system has been installed in four-disabled parking bays in front of the hotel, and works on the ?embarrassment factor?. When drivers sneak into a forbidden spot, the mass of their car triggers an induction loop, which sends a radio message to the talking sign. The speaker tells drivers that the parking bay is reserved specifically for disabled people and if they are not incapacitated, to park elsewhere.
