DVR product firm Avigilon announced the release of Avigilon High Definition (HD) License Plate Recognition (LPR). That’s a fully integrated optical character recognition module for the Avigilon Control Center HD surveillance software, and the companyโs initial commercial foray into video analytics.
Avigilon High Definition LPR delivers single and multi-lane license plate recognition from a single camera with HD accuracy, the makers say.
โDelivering superior image clarity, Avigilon High Definition LPR offers quick access to important data that can be filtered and managed in real-time for improved monitoring and superior overall character detection,โ says Dave Tynan, vice-president of global sales at Avigilon. โAs the first step in the roll-out of our video analytics offering, Avigilon High Definition LPR enables security professionals to leverage and analyze images for enhanced security.โ
HD LPR includes flexible post-incident search capabilities and on-screen and email alerts from imported watch lists.
โBy introducing License Plate Recognition as part of an enterprise address of video surveillance, Avigilon has brought the ability of all organizations to establish digital fences involving identification of vehicles,โ said Frost and Sullivan Industry Analyst Dilip Sarangan. โThe value this represents can be afforded by a broad range of applications from secondary schools, to corporate campus, to first responder needs within municipalities.โ
Meanwhile, Avigilon announced the release of Avigilon Control Center 3.8, the companyโs latest version of its High Definition (HD) surveillance software. Avigilon Control Center 3.8 comes with new features.
โAvigilon Control Center 3.8 continues to deliver the image quality expected of HD for full situational awareness, providing security professionals with the extra level of protection they want for live video surveillance and more importantly, uncompromised archived video,โ said Dave Tynan. โWith Avigilon Control Center 3.8, we have added new features that facilitate ease-of-use and manageability to deliver unsurpassed performance and superior overall protection.โ
New features
Avigilon Control Center 3.8 comes with a mapping feature that enables operators to add a map overview into the software interface to illustrate the layout of cameras and servers for easy navigation of large surveillance system installations. Maps can be layered and nested allowing navigation through multi-storey buildings and very large areas.
The rules engine enables operators to map any camera or system event to a set output action for faster identification and improved response times. The rules engine also enables users to map events within the system to relay outputs on Avigilon HD cameras and analog encoders to open and close gates or lock and unlock doors.
