Through the Security Institute, a first 14 recipients have received The Baroness Ruth Henig Scholarship. It’s named after the distinguished public servants, a former chair of the Security Institute Authority who became president of the Institute and who died early in 2024. The scholarships seek to help talent and potential within the security sector.
The Institute points out that nine of 14 are female, and half come from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and non-British backgrounds. Two of the scholarship winners received the news during the Institute’s annual conference, “The Changing Face of Security”, on October 16. There (pictured) they were able to meet members of Baroness Henig’s family.
Simon Hepburn, CEO of the Security Institute, said: “The Baroness Ruth Henig Scholarship is more than a recognition of academic and professional excellence. It represents our ongoing commitment to breaking barriers and supporting a diverse pool of talent in the security profession. We are thrilled to see this year’s cohort reflecting the broadening nature of our industry, as well as the passion and dedication needed to make our field stronger.”
The scholarship winners will receive access to tailored mentorship opportunities, funding for professional development, and resources to support their growth in the security sector. To ask about the scholarship email [email protected].
