The contractor Carlisle Support Services reports that it’s becoming White Ribbon Accredited, aligning with White Ribbon UK, the charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women.
As a White Ribbon Accredited organisation, Carlisle Support Services will deliver a multi-year plan covering its staff culture, systems, and the wider community it operates in. The company describes the accreditation as an opportunity to make the organisation’s workplace a safe place for men and women, and to upskill staff to become change-makers. Some of the actions that will be taken include the development of a domestic abuse policy for employees, appointing Ambassadors within departments to advocate positive attitudes and behaviour, and raising awareness within local communities or with partners.
Allan Gregory, pictured, Director of Transport Policing and Security of Carlisle said: “White Ribbon is completing incredible work to shed light on the unfortunate truth of unwanted sexual behaviour, harassment, and abuse that women and girls encounter nationwide every day of the year. We are proud to collaborate with them to alter that reality – and our White Ribbon Accreditation signifies our dedication to fostering positive change within the communities we serve and ensuring that we maintain inclusive workplaces where everyone feels a sense of belonging.”
And Anthea Sully, Chief Executive of White Ribbon UK said: “White Ribbon Accredited Organisations can make a real difference towards ending violence against women by promoting a culture of respect and equality among their staff and wider communities. By raising awareness among employees, people can learn how to become allies and call out violent and abusive behaviour when they see it. We are delighted to welcome Carlisle Support Services as one of our White Ribbon Accredited Organisations and are looking forward to working with them towards ending violence against women once and for all.”
