Roy's Monthly Gossip

Many moves

by Mark Rowe

Here we are; April already. To the gossip! As there is a lot to get your head around this month, please don’t be offended if I have not given you a load of exposure. You are all very worthy and congratulations to you all for your moves, or promotions.

First, had you heard that Tim Cocks, yes the brother to Jeremey Cocks (wonder how he is doing these days? Looks like he is the MD at ICENTER HD Limited in Reading?), is starting a new position for Redvision CCTV, and has become the Risk and Compliance Manager. Not sure what that means but it sure is a fancy title. Graeme Dyson has started as UK head of Physical Security at EMCOR UK.

Darren Gill has started as Director for Kore Systems Limited, now Darren was over at the access control systems firm LenelS2 for almost seven years but was also at Assa Abloy and Honeywell for a time. He won’t remember but I met Darren when he was at Vidionics Security Systems, in the early 2000s.

The fabulous Debbie Carter is starting a new position as Business Development Director at Videcon. Talking of Videcon they have appointed Sasha Isaacs as Business development Manager for the west Midlands. Sasha joins them from Doris CCTV.

Lee Slade starts a new position as Service and Operations manager (South) at Hunter Communication Services.

Mark Ryder is starting as Technical Manager for the BSIA.

Steve James is a key account manager now for Security Supplies Limited.

Andrew Tuck starts a new position as Customer Relationship Manager at Commend UK. You will be familiar with Andrew as he was with Tyco Fire Protection before it was taken over by Johnson Controls, and has been in the industry since 2002.

Illas Volokas Starts as Technical Security Specialist for TJX Europe.

Gary Hulmes starts at IDIS as the sales manager. Gary has had an interesting career and jumped between working for installers, namely ADT and Stanley to name two, to working with manufacturers, the likes of Niscayah and Verint to even spending some time with Assett the distributors; you’re much like me Gary. From what I can tell it looks like Gary started in the industry in 1988. I started in 1972 so you have some years still to catch me up.

Mark Panter has a new position as Design Estimator at RDS Fire and Security. That mention of fire reminds me, Paul Pope has joined Ajax Systems as the Global Head of the Fire & Life Safety Business. He has over 35 years of experience in fire and life safety, and has held top roles in UK and international companies. On the trade body the Fire Industry Association (FIA), he serves as a Board Director and holds positions on various FIA councils.

James Needham is starting as Regional Director (South) for Dynamic CCTV, the Hikvision UK distributor.

Scott Davis has been promoted to vice president Sales UK&I over at Hanwha Vision Europe. I worked with Scott in 2005 when he was at ADI Gardiner and I was at MVD, since then Scott has grown in standing and is thoroughly deserving of his promotion. It’s really nice to see that if you put the effort in the rewards will follow. Congratulations Scott.

Stuart Martin Starts as New Business Director for AURA UK.

Steve Wilkinson starts as a Director of Security EMEA at Aman.

Stuart Wyllie is a new area account manager for ADI Global.

Graham Goldridge starts a new position as Channel Account Manager Sub-Saharan Africa for Motorola Solutions. Isn’t that just an area of sand? Talking Motorola Solutions, did you know they have bought Silent Sentinel. They were based in Ware in Hertfordshire and make long range cameras that are designed to work in really harsh conditions. The terms of the sale have not been revealed.

Texecom reports two appointments to EMEA. Joining as Regional Sales Manager covering Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain and Latin America, Marc Brioen has over 30 years sales experience across the technology sector, including with an alarm installation business. Marc also holds an electrical diploma. To support the Benelux region, Marc Van Den Beld joins as Regional Sales Support. With several years’ experience in computing, networking and telecommunications, Marc has a technical background supporting customers across a range of industries. Most recently he spent 15 years at an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) in the Netherlands.

TDSI have appointed Paul Taylor as Sales Specialist for TIL Technologies. TDSi recently announced its sales and support of TIL Technologies’ range as a complementary technology to its own flagship GARDiS secure access control ecosystem of software and hardware products. John Davies, Managing Director of TDSi, who has been seriously ill so we wish you John a speedy recovery, commented: “With an impressive sales track record in the market, Paul is perfectly placed to be overseeing our sales and support of TIL Technologies’ range in the UK. This exciting technology is already at the forefront of TIL Technologies’ home market in France, but Paul is taking the reins with regards to promoting its considerable benefits to TDSi’s customers in the UK and Ireland.” Paul brings a background in access control sales and technical support since 1995 having worked for Johnson Controls as Regional Sales Manager, as well as roles at HID Global, Avigilon, and Allegion. He officially joined TDSi last year and has been busy building the sales channel here in the UK over the last few months ahead of the official announcement.

Ranger Fire and Security has been launched, with the acquisition of two companies: Ignis Fire Protection and Amerex Fire International. Mark Bridges is CEO of Ranger.

Last but not least the Women in Security (WiS) afternoon tea party. I hope you saw the photos as we celebrated International Women’s Day in Birmingham, at the Metropole beside the NEC, pictured. You can read more about this on page 21, of the April print edition of Professional Security Magazine. Thank you to Liz Lloyd, who’s put a lot of pictures from the day on the gallery part of this website, and Sarah Cork of City Security Group, for arranging this and thank you to everyone that attended. You WiS supporters, I hope you have the golf day in your diary, Thursday, May 16? At The Belfry like last summer.
