Numbers Hailed

by msecadm4921

Visitor numbers to LIVE05, the security roadshow, have been hailed by the organiser, electronic security product distributor Norbain SD.

As the final event closed in Dublin on October 13, Huw Edwards, Marketing Communications Manager for Norbain, reported that over 30 per cent more people attended LIVE05 compared with LIVE04.

He said: "This is a terrific result for the exhibitors and delegates and demonstrates the real demand that exists for an event format that enables visitors to learn in detail about the latest leading brand products."

Donna Kingsley, Managing Director of ADK Security Services Limited attended the event at Kempton Park racecourse. She said: "We came because the seminar topics included subjects of particular interest to us. It was very interesting to hear direct from the police on the issue of digital evidence. The format of LIVE05 works really well. We appreciate the smaller venue compared with the overwhelming nature of an event like IFSEC. At LIVE we can meet a few quality brands and spend quality time with the manufacturers."

At each venue three seminars were presented by speakers that included representatives of local police forces across Britain; Ian Fowler, Norbain’s Technical Training Manager; and Professor Martin Gill, Director of Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International and a Professor of Criminology at the University of Leicester. What Prof Gill said is reported in the November print issue of Professional Security.

What they say

Prof Gill said of audiences at LIVE05: "I sense installers and exhibitors are increasingly clued up about many of the key issues addressing the industry. And there is an increasing awareness too of how important it is to educate the end user. The LIVE format works extremely well in this respect. Visitors are keen to engage in the issues and relate the practical aspects of system design and installation to the core objective of crime deterrence and the identification of suspects. I have seen encouraging signs for the industry at all the LIVE events this year."

Some 28 brands exhibited at one or more of the LIVE05 events that began in Glasgow on 20 September and ended in Dublin on 13 October, in between visiting Durham, Blackpool, Birmingham, London, Cardiff and Belfast.

Janine Solloway, Sales & Marketing Director of exhibitor BPT Security Systems UK Ltd said he is already committed to attending LIVE06: "LIVE05 has given our staff time with the Norbain and Vista teams and they have seen some very busy venues. There has been a good mix of regular clients and new and it has been a great series of events at which to show our new Ophera monitor and Impro systems. We shall be there next year!"

"Being involved in such an event enabled JVC to support Norbain as a key customer and provided a good platform to speak to key installers, security managers and their customers," said Greg Gregoriou, Senior Sales Manager UK at JVC Professional Europe.

Brian Larkins, Managing Director of VMS said of LIVE05: "LIVE 05 certainly focussed visitors attention on the importance of Recording Management through the excellent seminars given by senior Police Forensic Officers. From Video Management Services’ perspective LIVE05 provided us with an excellent platform to promote our products and just as importantly gave us the ability to network with others in the industry to find out what it is they want from us in the way of future product developments."

Norbain has already confirmed LIVE06. Details of dates will be announced in the new year.
