Acumen Cyber, a cyber security service firm, has officially opened its headquarters at EastWorks, Glasgow, which now hosts a Security Operations Centre (SOC). Scotlandโs Minister for Business, Richard Lochhead, attended the opening and gave a speech.
Richard Lochhead said: โWith around half of all UK businesses and a third of charities reporting some form of cyber breach or attack last year, cyber crime is a growing and evolving threat to our economy and national security. Itโs essential that organisations have the right support and expertise to deal with these threats. Acumen Cyber is a great example of a Scottish business – not only responding to the serious issue of cyber security but also developing innovation that will contribute to the creation of jobs and deliver benefits across the local economy. I wish it every success and look forward to see it growing and developing further from its new EastWorks base.”
Acumen Cyber reports growth and progress, such as its SOC achieving CREST accreditation, its headcount increasing by 60 per cent, its onboarding of 18 new clients and its expansion across the UK and Ireland. As for 2025, Acumen is forecasting over 100 per cent growth. The firm says that its SOC is built to deliver enterprise-grade protection through a combination of cyber defence engineers, security tooling, its own proprietary technology and threat intelligence and automation. The company stresses that it doesnโt just monitor threats – it actively prevents, detects and responds to them in real-time. Acumenโs security engineers have analysed over 10 billion events in the last year, stopping over 500 potential threats, with an average response time of 28.56 minutes.
