Securitas UK has achieved bronze status under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
The scheme badges employers as bronze, silver and gold, for their support of those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces and their families. It aligns with the values set out in the UK official Armed Forces Covenant, which pledges to treat armed forces personnel fairly.
As the security firm says, leaving the armed forces can be a daunting prospect for serving men and women, and support is vital upon re-entry into civic life. A part of re-entering civilian life is finding a job and seeing that skills honed in the armed services are transferable across to private and public sector work. As a bronze award holder, Securitas UK has:
– signed the Armed Forces Covenant and aligned to its values across the business.
– pledged to support the armed forces, including prospective employees.
– shown an armed forces-friendly ethos, open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses and partners.
– and is displaying the ERF on the Securitas UK website to foster a more diverse recruitment process and encourage ex-service men and women to apply for vacancies.
Securitas UK adds that it works with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) for any vacancies to be promoted to veterans. For example, CTP allows employers to digitally post vacancies, and ex-armed forces can view and apply for these vacancies for free.
Peter Savva is Lead for the Veterans Employee Network Group at Securitas UK. He said: “As an employer that has championed for many years to recruit ex-service men and women into the Securitas UK business – I am delighted we have achieved bronze status. Ex-armed forces professionals have many transferable skills and niche expertise that are vital within the security sector and across our six protective services.
“The ERF accreditation is just one way we look to strengthen our support for ex-armed forces service men and women. We aim to continue to grow our connections with armed services networks and drive recruitment of these professionals by being a diverse and inclusive employer.”
