Integrated Systems

Platform built from the pain points

by Mark Rowe

When Barricade Systems launches worldwide, it won’t be just another software platform entering the crowded security tech market. Instead, it will represent a shift in how the industry supports its backbone: the local and regional security installers and integrators who keep homes, businesses, and communities secure every day. While Barricade have gained great backing from significant players in the tech industry this isn’t a story of tech giants or venture capital. Barricade started with a need — and a frustration — from the field.

The origin of Barricade began in Norway, where a rapidly growing installer and integrator company encountered the same frustrations many small-to-midsize security firms still face today. Their brand was consistently overshadowed by large manufacturer apps, limiting their visibility and connection with customers. Clients were increasingly expecting seamless, multi-brand solutions — combining intrusion, video, fire detection, and smart home devices — but integrating these systems was clunky and inconsistent. And internally, the team was stretched thin, managing operations across as many as eight disconnected platforms just to handle installations, billing, customer support, and admin.

So, they took action. Instead of waiting for a solution, they built their own. What started as an internal tool — branded to their company, built for operational efficiency, and designed to integrate the best hardware available — soon became the cornerstone of their growth. The business quickly rose to become one of the largest installer companies in Norway.

Then, interest from other installers started pouring in. Recognizing a widespread need across the industry, the founders began transforming their in-house solution into a robust platform for others. That journey became Barricade Systems — a platform tailored for the 50pc to 70pc of security companies worldwide that operate locally or regionally and face the same barriers to scale.

The global launch targets three of the most pressing challenges faced by security installers. First and foremost is the need to reclaim brand visibility and control. Barricade provides every partner with a free white-label mobile app — featuring their own logo and name — available in both the App Store and Google Play. This allows installation companies to remain the visible, trusted interface for their clients, rather than disappearing behind the branding of large manufacturers.

Second, today’s end-users expect one integrated solution for everything — video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, fire alarms, and smart home — regardless of the device manufacturer. Barricade delivers exactly that. The platform already supports leading brands like Hikvision, Dahua, CROW, Provision ISR, Yale Doorman, and Philips Hue.

Finally, Barricade consolidates what has traditionally required multiple disconnected systems. Instead of juggling CRM, billing, customer support, subscription management, and analytics across differenttools, installers get everything in one platform — purpose-built for the security industry to simplify operations, in the office and in the field.

Henrik Glittenberg, founder and head of tech of Barricade Systems, pictured, says: “Barricade was born out of necessity. As installers ourselves, we faced the same challenges many local companies do today — lack of visibility, fragmented tools, and limited flexibility. Competing with giants in the industry can be incredibly tough without the right tech stack. Since no one was building a solution for us, we built it ourselves. Today, Barricade exists to give control back to the installers.”

Barricade is more than a tool for installers — it’s a strategic enabler for every stakeholder in the security industry. For end-users, the platform delivers a smooth, unified experience that merges video surveillance, intrusion, access control, fire detection, and smart home features into a single, intuitive app — all under the trusted brand of their local provider. For installers and integrators, it offers full control over branding, simplified business operations, and a way to differentiate in an increasingly competitive market.

Distributors benefit from recurring revenue opportunities through the Barricade Kickback Program and can offer bundled, plug-and-play security packages that integrate with a range of top-tier hardware brands. Manufacturers gain an extended reach through a brand-agnostic, non-competitive distribution model that strengthens installer loyalty while complementing go-to-market strategies.

Henrik Glittenberg says: “What makes our approach unique is that while we’ve built Barricade with installers at the center, the platform naturally benefits the entire value chain — delivering a better experience for end-users and opening new strategic opportunities for manufacturers, all without compromising installer autonomy.”

With distribution agreements already signed across Europe and Asia, Barricade is saying the message from the market is clear: installers and partners are hungry for smarter, more flexible tools that help them scale and stand out.

“As we speak with partners across continents, the enthusiasm is unmistakable,” says Joar Dybvik, Executive Sales Director at Barricade Systems. “Distributors and integrators alike see Barricade not just as a product, but as a long-overdue shift in how the industry operates — one that puts real power back in the hands of those delivering security on the ground.”

“The response from manufacturers has been just as exciting,” adds Ajay Khari, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Partnerships. “Brands like Hikvision, Dahua, CROW, Yale Doorman, and others are already live on the platform — and we’re welcoming new partners every month. It’s a win-win-win. Manufacturers co-exist on the same platform, allowing deeper market penetration; installers can manage, monitor, and maintain multiple hardware offerings via a unified control centre; and end-users benefit from greater choice, and a more seamless software experience with fewer clicks to engage across their home security activities. We’re thrilled that the response from the market has been so forward-leaning!”
