Automatic pixelation

by Mark Rowe

With the function “AI Pixelation” in its video management software SeMSy Compact, Dallmeier offers a way to have automatic pixelation of objects such as persons or vehicles – in live streams and in the display of recordings.

Intelligent video analysis

“AI Pixelation” is a feature of the Dallmeier SeMSy Compact stand-alone software, which provides control and evaluation of video systems on a workstation. In use with artificial intelligence (AI) installed on the cameras, Deep AI object classification, various objects can be automatically pixelated.

Deep AI object classification is available on all the company’s Domera 6000 series cameras and all Picoline and Panomera multi-sensor models. Deep AI object classification is based on pre-installed neural networks and enables real-time analysis of video data. On this basis, the system recognises relevant objects, such as people, and can then pixelate them on the client side in the SeMSy Compact software.

Pixelation can be activated for defined user groups, while the data in the recording itself remains unpixelated, so that people with authorisation can view the original data at any time. In this way, AI Pixelation gives privacy protection and compliance with legal data protection requirements, such as the European Union-wide GDPR, the German manufacturer says.

An optional SeMSy Compact Dashboard displays the VCA (video content analysis) data of event types – line crossing, intrusion detection and object counting, of Dallmeier network cameras and Panomeras in a separate window as a bar chart. Besides a basic overview of events, a camera can be selected for the evaluation of recorded events.
