Digital University

Kollector digital security stations and dome cameras from Vicon Industries have recently been installed at Bournemouth University.

Kollector digital security stations and dome cameras from Vicon Industries have recently been installed at Bournemouth University. The equipment is operating at campuses in central Bournemouth and at Fern Barrow near Poole. The Fern Barrow campus has two Kollector 4000 units. These digital recorders are stand-alone or networkable. Kollector can record from 16 cameras simultaneously and it has connections to alarm sensors and alarm relays. Storing video on a 60 Gb hard drive, the Kollector allows export of scenes to a network drive or in standard JPEG format to removable media. The unit not only removes the need for tape back up, but also acts as a multiplexer.

From the installer

The installation was designed by Waterlooville-based Christie Intruder Alarms (CIA). John Milligan of CIA says: ?We have been consistently impressed by the design and build quality of the Vicon products and are particularly pleased with the functionality of the Kollector unit.? CIA specialise in CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and fire alarms. The company has been operating for 30 years. Security and facilities managers at Bournemouth University will also be operating a 32-channel matrix from Vicon?s Nova range. This microprocessor-controlled unit accommodates pre-configured systems and offers extensive tour sequence support. There is also provision for titling and a built-in interface for control by a host computer which is achieved through a graphical PC configurator.
