Head Office Domes

by Msecadm4921

Dome cameras plus a 48-way matrix from Vicon Industries have recently been installed at the head office of the Portman Building Society.

Dome cameras plus a 48-way matrix from Vicon Industries have recently been installed at Portman House, the purpose-built head office of the Portman Building Society in Bournemouth. Vicon?s Surveyor 2000 dome camera features a drive mechanism that can be operated independently from the housing, giving installers a way to test functionality before permanent mounting. Menu-based programming configures each unit to individual requirements. The units have self-learn tours which allow for in-sequence editing and reverse touring. The installation by ADT (Portsmouth) was completed earlier this year. The principal civil engineer for the construction work was Hayden Young while mechanical and electrical services were supervised by Skanska. Also installed was ADT?s Minerva analogue addressable fire system.

What they say

The architect, London-based Fitzroy Robinson, have particular expertise in low energy ?green? buildings. The master plan ensured that Portman House incorporates energy-efficient features such as solar control window glazing. The building has been constructed around a central core with two wings and was designed to complement other developments in the area. Gary Taylor, a Senior Project Manager at ADT says: ?We have been using Vicon equipment for some years and are attracted to the product range as a result of its functionality and build quality. It has proved useful to be able to cater for the varied CCTV needs of our customers through a single supplier without concerns as to compatibility between the various components.?

In control room

The control room in Portman House has Vicon?s V1344 programmable control and matrix switching system from the Nova series. At Bournemouth the matrix is accommodating 48 camera inputs and eight monitor outputs but the unit has a 128 input by 24 output maximum capacity. The V1344 features a graphical PC configurator.
