Pointer hails 50th birthday

by Mark Rowe

The installer Pointer Fire and Security Services is hailing its 50th anniversary

The specialist electronic fire and security services company is 50 years as a family owned business. There are several commemorative events occurring to celebrate the company’s customers, suppliers and colleagues to mark the occasion.

Though the company began in Glasgow in the domestic alarm business, it has grown with demand to add offices across the UK and in Oman, Thailand and the Philippines. Pointer’s customer base evolved and has found the largest part of the business involves major projects within utilities and the custodial sectors.

Pointer has trained over 300 apprentices across the UK, to date. The company was named as the winners of ‘SME Employer of the Year 2022’ at this year’s Scottish Apprenticeship Awards during Scottish Apprenticeship Week.

Director Sandy Rowan says: “We have come a long way in 50 years, but we still have further to travel on the road to excellence. If we share best practice across the business and remain focused on our customers we can take that next step. One team, one Pointer.”
