The Security TWENTY year of conference-exhibitions put on by Professional Security Magazine closes usually at Heathrow, and 2022 is no exception. ST22 London runs at the Radisson RED, on the roundabout before you drive through the tunnel for the airport, on Thursday, November 3.
If you’re wondering why that sounds like a new venue, because (barring our 2021 show at Twickenham for covid-related reasons) the Heathrow event has been at the Park Inn Hotel; it’s still there, only it’s had a change of name.
Our invited speakers are from the UK regulator the Security Industry Authority (SIA), Business Relationship Manager Paul Cartlidge; from the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) chief executive Richard Jenkins; on cyber awareness, Ellie Hurst of the consultancy Advent IM; and David Scott, the MD of Skills for Security; plus manufacturer updates from Seagate, Stratus Technologies, BT and Hikvision.
Whether you are an old hand at ST or new to the industry and wanting to make contacts, whatever your age or experience, whatever your sector or interest in private security – as manager, installer, consultant or specifier, or someone not in security strictly speaking but wanting to stay up to date with the tech: ST is a good place to be, to talk with exhibitors without the hurly-burly of a bigger show, and to have face to face conversations that you can’t beat, if you want to do business, for all the wonders of Zoom (a topic in the October print edition of Professional Security Magazine).
It’s free to attend, so yes, there is such a thing as a free (hot buffet) lunch – and mid-morning tea and coffee, and for the early arrivals (around 8.30am) there’s bacon butties. So you can spend all day – the show usually winds up about 3pm – or you can drop in for an hour or two, and be on your way to do something else in your day.

As ever the evening before the ST proper, there’s a gathering, that will raise funds for a good cause – Prost8, a new charity.
That’ll be ST for the year, and then we do it all over again! ST has seven dates around the British Isles, starting on Thursday, February 16, at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, on the Birmingham NEC campus. Then we go to Glasgow, south Wales (the Celtic Manor Resort), Manchester, the pair of Irish events in Belfast and Dublin, and last but not least Heathrow again.
