Let’s get straight into it shall we; but, first! “Calling all you golfers” especially those in Scotland! We are bringing ST25 to the Doubletree Westerwood Golf and Spa Hotel in Cumbernauld on May 13. On the Monday, May 12 we are going to play golf, as it’s a golf course. I say, we? I’m no golfer but will be there to support you with goodies! We will finish with a barbecue and present some of those awards like the wooden spoon! I used to win that all the time when I lived there, so will be happy to pass that on! Do you want to join us? Shirley Phillips-Knight has joined Westco Anixter as Senior Sales manager. Now you will all know Shirley has moved over after four years from working at Axis but you will probably know her more from her 23 years-plus at Norbain. That adds up to a long time in the industry. Hot off the press, so to speak, Andrew Keeley is joining Reconeyez as Marketing Director, Andy you will know has been in the industry since 2006 when we first met. In those days he was working for Norbain, of course.
Ajax have appointed Aaron Scott as Country Manager for the UK. He brings over 13 years of experience in the security industry, having held various roles in sales and business development. They have taken on Matthew Holiday as Business Development Manager. James Pyle becomes a new account manager at Comelit-PAC; and Mark Piert has also joined the firm, on the fire side. Eric Joseph starts a new position as Vice President – Strategic Sales at LenelS2. Bryan Forde starts at HID as their senior Transportation Manager, while Rory Walsh started with the European team focused on end user business. Gareth Ellams starts as the general Manager for Security Access Solutions – Europe over at Honeywell. Claire Hedley has joined COP UK as their Product and Pricing manager. Claire was at Texecom and previously ADI, talking ADI and Cop seems that Michael Laurence has also joined Cop UK as the Managing Director. Now you may not know this but if Michael challenges you to a round of Golf be warned that he is a very good player but like most very good players says he is not! Isn’t there a word for that begins with a “B”?! ABUS appointed Adam Evans as Managing Director for UK & Ireland. RISCO have appointed Dave Tate as UK and Ireland Commercial Director. Dave will oversee the sales, marketing, and technical teams.
About installers
Lets talk installers and integrators for a while. Simon Hunt starts as Divisional Project Manager EMEZ+A (DC Vertical) at Convergint, whilst Stuart Gardiner starts as European Design Manager DC Vertical (whatever that means?) Mary Weitzer starts at Johnson Controls as their associate procurement controller, Lisa Whitehead joins Chubb Fire and Security UK as a Regional Operations manager. And Robert Jones starts a new role as Chubb Global – Data Centre Director EMEA. Martin Hannaway who is based in Glasgow has started his own business, Max Security Solutions, offering subcontracting services for the fire, CCTV, intruder, and access control markets as well as installing on his own. He has over 12 years of experience within the fire and security industry and felt it was time to do it for himself and start a new chapter, we wish you well Martin. Jason Bixby starts a new position as Senior Operations manager at ADT UK and Ireland. Tony Scaddan becomes a BDM for the UK&I for SwiftConnect. Zubair Gheewala starts a new position as a Business Development Manager for Solid State Security. Stuart Glen is the new Head of Sales at Safetell.
Acquisition
Last year I reported some acquisitions by Ranger Fire and Security. Here’s their first of 2025, McGoff & Vickers Fire & Security Systems (MGV), based in Warrington who have been a Nacoss Gold installer since the 1970s. Gerry Bates, MD of Syncro, part of Ranger, said: “We know McGoff & Vickers really well by reputation, and they have an excellent reputation with their many long-standing customers.”
