Skills partners

by Mark Rowe

The fogging product company Smoke Screen has become a sponsor of Skills for Security, the UK training provider for the fire and security sectors. Smoke Screen’s product is now a part of the curriculum, whereby apprentices will be trained to deploy it as a crime deterrence for example in jewellery and other high-value shops.

Matt Gilmartin, Managing Director of Smoke Screen, said: “At Smoke Screen, we believe in turning the tide on crime. By empowering the next generation of engineers with the knowledge and skills to wield our technology, we’re not just preparing them for the future—we’re arming them to actively reshape it. Our partnership with Skills for Security is a statement of our belief in education and innovation as the twin pillars of crime prevention.”

Apprentices will learn how to install and maintain the security fogging products, that the company describes as a method proven to disorient intruders and protect valuable assets. The firm adds that its security fog systems featurecloud-based monitoring, remote activation, and a variety of unit sizes, including battery-powered options.

Meanwhile AddSecure, the European provider of alarm signalling services and IoT (Internet of Things) connectivity, has also partnered with Skills for Security. AddSecure says this will directly support Skills for Security to equip apprentices with the skills needed to navigate current and future industry challenges.

David Scott, Managing Director of Skills for Security, said: “Having AddSecure as a sponsor is a fantastic opportunity for our apprentices. Their knowledge and pioneering approach to alarm signalling will provide invaluable real-world perspectives that will enrich our training programs and ultimately inspire the next generation of security professionals.”

Willem Harthoorn, Director of Sales, Smart Alarms at AddSecure, added: “We’re proud to support Skills for Security in their work to develop the talent that the fire and security industry desperately needs. At AddSecure, we believe that innovation and education go hand-in-hand, and through this sponsorship, we’re excited to help foster the growth of future leaders in the industry.”

AddSecure will collaborate with Skills on training materials, based on real-world applications of alarm signalling. As background, in June BT Redcare agreed that AddSecure would continue Redcare’s fire and security alarm signalling services in the UK after Redcare’s abrupt announcement that it would end such services as part of a BT review. It means Redcare customers can choose to migrate over to AddSecure.
